About 3 years ago my friend invited me to an oil party. As I was sitting there listening to this woman talk about the oils I thought there was no way this "magic" could actually work and that she was just trying to make money, much like It Works, Juice Plus+, Plexus, etc. I didn't want anything to do with a MLM company because in most situations they use high pressure sales and I absolutely HATE that! If I want to buy a product I will buy it on my own time, don't pressure me in any way or you won't get the sale...that's the kind of consumer I am! So I left the oil party and didn't think about oils again for a good year or so.
I went about my life, got pregnant and had a beautiful little girl! One day when my daughter was around 10 months old her daddy got the flu, who then passed a cold to both my daughter and I so I made a post on Facebook about us being sick because, well, who doesn't do that?! A friend of mine reached out to me and let me know that Thieves essential oil was great for a cold and the flu and was safe to use on children as long as it was diluted with a carrier oil and would also work on us adults. I decided to give it a shot because we were all miserable and at her age there isn't much medication I could use on her. She brought it to me at work and the first thing I did was put it in my tea and within 5 minutes my sore throat was gone and I was feeling a little better. I went home and used it on my daughter and my boyfriend and in a day we were all feeling a lot better AND without the nasty side effects of cold medicine, I hate that drowsy feeling! I was shocked that this oil had actually made us all feel better. Being that I am a researcher by nature, I decided to do my research on these oils.
Through my research I found so many stories of people, who had nothing to do with selling the oils, that actually had success in pretty much any ailment you can think of by using essential oils. I became more and more convinced that these oils actually do work and that it really wasn't just a marketing ploy to rope you into spending tons of money. I found a group on Facebook about Young Living Essential Oils and added myself to it just to get more information about the products and hear success stories directly from people in the group. I didn't realize when I entered the group that it would lead to the beginning of my love for these oils!
One day someone posted that the KidScents were back in stock and that peaked my interest as by then my daughter was a 1 year old and she had just started walking. If you are a parent you know that when they start walking they fall and get bruises all the time! One of the oils in the kit was called Owie, used just for that reason. There were 5 more in the kit and I could definitely find use for all of them so I reached out to the woman selling the oils and she gave me a ton of information about the kit and all that it could be used for. I told her I needed to think about it and she left me alone! I was shocked, I thought for sure she was going to push it down my throat but she didn't. I wasn't able to purchase it due to us being pretty tight on money at the time. Then it sold out, I was pretty bummed but then she informed me that there was a Premium Starter Kit that I could purchase when I was ready that was the same price as the KidScents Kit and that I could use the oils in that on my daughter as well for pretty much all of the same things! I decided to wait and talk to my boyfriend about it more just to make sure it was something we could do.
3 months went by and we had some extra spending money so we decided it was time to buy the kit. What was awesome is that in those months of waiting to buy the kit, the woman who ended up enrolling me, had checked in with me every so often offering me any information I needed about the oils but not once mentioned anything about purchasing the kit. I am so happy she never forced it on me because I probably would have never purchased it!
The day it arrived I was so excited! Our garbage had just been taken out but the smell was still lingering so I went to the group page and asked if there was a good mix to diffuse for a bad smell in the house and I heard purification and lemon so that went into my diffuser right away. Within 10 minutes my house smelled so fresh and the garbage smell was gone! I also decided that night to use Lavender on my daughter because she had been teething and was having a hard time sleeping. No joke, she fell asleep without any crying and slept the whole night without waking up to complain. We honestly could not believe that all it took was an oil. From that moment on we were hooked!
These oils have legitimately changed our lives for the better and now instead of grabbing medicine, we grab our oils. I never thought I would be one of those "crazy oil people" I always called others but today I am proud to say that I am crazy about my essential oils!
